Pepe launched their Spring/Summer 2007 collection with Sienna Miller as the face. Among the drool-worthy range Pepe has summer frocks in all the colours of the rainbow, paisley button down shirts and their trademark jeans. The line is clean and crisp as ever with vintage patterned fabrics and preppy basics.

Here comes Summer…!

Last week saw the launch of the Barbie Loves MAC range in Ireland. Delicious pinks and pastels are the colour palette du jour for MAC and to coincide with its launch, BT are hosting some gorgeous windows, dedicated to the “designer dolls” that Mattel have commissioned for this unique occasion.
However, are the dolls really a healthy end goal for cosmetic shoppers? The unrealistic proportions of the dolls have always been a matter for debate for both feminists and fashionistas. The bouffant blonde with bright pink lips and blue eyes has been the subject of criticism in the media since the 60s, suggesting that it is warping the vision of “perfect” for young girls everywhere. But is this an overreaction? As Billy B, noted make-up artist, says:
“Barbie really was the first experience I had with fashion”
Is Barbie another chink in the armour for the size 0 debate? Are we mature enough as shoppers to see this as a tongue in cheek glance back to our youth? Or are we subconsciously buying into and promoting a look that can never be truly realised, short of dropping a couple of thousand at your local cosmetic surgery clinic?
