Deirdre Brennan of County Westmeath rocked the show with her feminine, ultra-chic spring dresses. Not only did she win the audience’s heart but the judges declared her this year’s Nokia Fashion Designer of the Year! She won a €5000 prize money, along with a Nokia L’Amour handset and an internship with Topshop

First Runner-up was LSAD’s Sarah Greer from Waterford

and second runner-up was Jane Horgan from LSAD as well! Too bad there were no NCAD winners because FF loved their designs. But it was a tough competition as the judges said (which included British designer Jonathan Saunders) and hey there’s always next year!

Sinead Lawlor of LSAD welcomed Spring in bronze metallic colours paired with nude and butter yellows. We loved the hoop skirts and the drainpipe trousers. The 12 finalists were asked to create designs using the same colour palette as the new Nokia L’Amour Collection of phones which ranged from pink, copper to bronze and black

With themes like “One for Sorrow”, “Hideous Kinky” and “Nomadic roots” Limerick School of Art and Design rocked the show

Each year Nokia holds the Young Fashion Designer of the Year Award and picks 12 finalists to feature in a grand catwalk show at one of Dublin’s coolest venues. This year the finalists came from Limerick School of Art and Design (all eight of them) and National College of Art and Design in Dublin, (four) two of the biggest design colleges in Ireland to put on a show of their best designs for a prize. And what a spectacular show it was! From floaty romantic dresses to futuristic shapes, clothes came in all shapes and colours.
