Fashion Design students from Limerick School of Art and Design, Grafton Academy, and Bray Senior College took part in this year’s DCU Young Fashion Designer of the Year Award. We loved Sarah Duggan’s floaty, chiffon baby-blue tops and frocks. The theme behind her creation was “Feet sinking into the sand on a shallow beach” reminiscent of her childhood days. She used sheer, reflective fabrics like satin and chiffon to achieve the illusion of water (Pics 1 & 2)

Katharine Hamnett’s “Save The Future” T-shirts went down a storm at the DCU Fashion Show 2007. Models rocked T-shirts with slogans like “Choose Life”, “Clean Up or Die” and “Worldwide Nuclear Ban Now”, promoting ethical fashion practices which was the main theme of the show this year.

We were at The DCU Fashion Show 2007 last night Wednesday March 28th in The Helix, Mahony Hall. The event was held in aid of Irish Autism Action, and hosted by Keith Duffy and Jenny Buckley

The theme of this year’s show was ‘The Elements’; Earth, Air, Fire, Metal and Water with a highlight on ethically made clothing which opposed the use of child labour and promotes the use of environmentally-friendly materials and practices in the manufacture of clothing.

Exclusive “Save the Future” t-shirts were modelled by students to support Environmental Justice Foundation’s Cotton Campaign designed by internationally-renowned and award winning fashion designer Katharine Hamnett.
