Fashion’s new It girl Daisy Lowe was the guest model for ‘Wanted Aya Takano & Wrangler’ – a fashion-art collaboration showcasing in The Loft, Powerscourt Townhouse Centre earlier this month. The fashion-art showcase was part of ‘Wanted’, a weekend festival of fashion, music, art & film hosted by Wrangler from 4th – 7th Oct in Dublin city.

18-year-old Daisy, who has music and fashion in her blood (the daughter of singer-turned-fashion-designer Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale) is rightly known as London’s new fashion icon with her eye-catching quirky-sweet style. Sporting Wrangler’s hottest new deisgns, she rocked the runway with her DJ boyfriend Will Blondelle (from the band Blondelles).

Fashion Filosofy’s Fashion Week Favourites

DCU Fashion Show 2007, Nokia, UCD, celebrity, designer, street style 21 Comments »

This week Fashion Filosofy attended some of Dublin’s most stylish events, cameras at the ready we snapped some great shots and these are some of our favourites.

There’s a very good reason the divine Miss Caroline Morahan won The Most Stylish of the Night at the Peter Marks VIP Style Awards and it was this gorgeous satin number. Created by home grown designer Kathy de Stafford, we love the intricate buttoned back and plunging neckline.

They say sex sells and sex definitely sells clothes! An expanse of bare skin and rippled abs showed off DCU’s student Fashion Show creations to great effect. Despite the irresistible models, we did manage to notice the clothes as well. Our attention was drawn to the very trendy way the show was styled, with hoodies worn as head pieces and tight fitting jeans with casual canvas trainers.

This fabulously feminine creation was our favourite aspect of the Nokia Young Fashion Designer Awards held at The Olympia. The work of Deirdre Brennan, who quite rightly won first place at the awards, is a collage of fabric and appliqué coming together to create a gown worthy of a princess. Check out the flowers and sequins which display an incredible attention to detail.

Grafton Design Academy students display some of this season’s hottest trends at the UCD student fashion show at The Point. Our favourite elements of these outfits are the hip, ankle length boots teamed with a sexy mini, the cute Mary Janes with a vintage flare and the uber trendy gold, metallic shift dress.

PETER MARK VIP STYLE AWARDS 2007
It’s that time of the year again! We were on hand with our cameras and notebooks at the Shelbourne Hotel to capture the famous and fashionable as they stepped up to be judged for one of Ireland’s most coveted Style Award: The Most Stylish Woman of the Year at the annual Peter Mark VIP Style Awards Ireland. Twenty of Ireland’s most beautiful and stylish women were nominated for the award: From Rachel Allen to Grainne Seoige, Radio Queen Claire Byrne, Former Miss World Rosanna Davidson, stylist Lisa Fitzpatrick, soap star Rachel Kavanagh, fashion presenter Caroline Morahan, TV stars Lorraine Keane, Laura Woods, Kathryn Thomas and Karen Koster were among the top favourites. Another covetable award was Most Stylish on the Night. Scroll down to see this year’s glamorous winners. Thanks to Tara O’Connor from Intrepid for organising a fabulous night.

The Most Stylish Woman of the Year

Drumroll please….is it any surprise that fashionista Miss Lisa Fitzpatrick won the coveted award of the year: The Most Stylish Woman in Ireland 2007! The award is judged by VIP readers who vote in their droves to pick their fave fashionista in Ireland. This award does not judge what they’re wearing on the night, but what the candidate has been wearing and how they carry-off what they wear throught the year!

Rumour has it that this special cornflower blue dress was flown in especially for her all the way from LA through local boutique Lara. Well done Miss Fitzpatrick, You show ‘em how it’s done!

Oceanic

TV3 Entertainment presenter Lorraine Keane looked divine in an ocean-green mermaid dress designed by Marion Murphy-Cooney.

Blue seemed to be in the ‘in’ colour of the night along with white, pink and beige. But blue ruled from Powder to Azure and from Periwinkle to Royal, all shades of the ocean were represented. Laura Bermingham (middle) in a Midnight Blue dress from Passion boutique looked regal while TV3’s beautiful news anchor Colette Fitzpatrick looked stunning in a silk, teal blue frock from Lara boutique. Seems like Lara was the hot favourite of the night as a host of fashionistas dressed up in designs from the favourite Dublin boutique

Ireland AM’s pretty host Sinead Desmond shines in a golden Oasis dress. We especially liked how her jewelery and eyeshadow was in a shade of blue. Golden and Blue, who would have thought of it? but it worked like magic! Bravo Sinead!

TV3’s Debbie O’Donnell looked like she just stepped off a Versace runway in Milan, that’s how dazzling her fabulous silver dress was. She scintillated in a top-to-toe bejewelled, iridescent, gown from Beth, in Cork. Nothing short of top designer-wear!
